The Concept: There
are a number of volunteer opportunities in the area, from Big
Brothers/Big Sisters to the Window Walk. There are also a number
of folks that
would
like to do some volunteering. We offer this page as a place to
match
them up!
So Here's What You
Do:
Use the form below to let us know about your
group's volunteer
opportunity. Let us know the who, what, when and why. We'll
post them
chronologically as we get them!
Sponsored by: Manchester 24/7, Mancheser Area Chamber of Commerce and Delaware

Close your eyes.
Who supported you the most when YOU were a child?
It s the people in our lives that often form our favorite memories.
Yet, it is not until we grow, that we realize how those individual,
magical moments affected our lives and made us who we are!
How can you make that kind of magic?
Do you have one 30 minutes to an hour each week to be that friend,
role-model and companion?
Adult
Elementary Crossing Guard There
is a current need for an adult crossing guard at Lambert Elementary
School in Manchester for both mornings and afternoons. The times would
be 7:45-8:15 a.m. and 2:45-3:15 p.m. on normal schedule days. A
volunteer willing to do it every day would be wonderful, but if you can
only come one day a
week, or just mornings or afternoons, we'd work with that, too. Reading
Volunteers Volunteers
are needed to read in the mornings with students one-on-one Mondays
through Thursdays. The time is generally before 10:00 a.m. This
would be a once a week commitment. The students read to the volunteer
for extra practice.
K
& 1st Grade Art Volunteers Kindergarten
and 1st grade art classes need volunteers at Lambert
elementary. The kindergartners are in art from 12:00-12:55 p.m., and
the 1st graders from 2:00-2:55 p.m. every day. You can choose a
particular teacher if you'd like, and can come on any day that works
for you. Volunteers do not have to come every week.
4th Grade
Electric Tester Help Needed
The fourth
grade classes do annual electric tester projects. You don't need to be
an expert with electricity to help. A 5-minute training
will be enough to get you started. If you can help on the days
below, please let me know. Mrs. Coates' class will do them on Monday,
Jan. 5, from 10:10-11:40 a.m. Mr. Snavely's class will do them on
Thursday, Jan. 8, from 10:10-11:40 a.m. Four volunteers are
needed. for each day.
Math Help
Needed
Mrs.
Carlson, Lambert math teacher, needs help with a small group of 2nd
grade students on Thursdays from 2:25-3:00 p.m
Alumni
Information Needed
We
need current alumni lists from classes that graduated from West
Delaware or the old Manchester High School. Please turn in reunion
booklets to Teresa Griffith as they become available to keep our
database
accurate.
To
volunteer
for these or other activities at West Delaware Schools,
please contact Teresa Griffith, Volunteer Coordinator, 563-927-3515,
extension 207.
