Webinar: Financing Beyond Friends
Posted 10 March
2010
You’ve got a great
idea for starting a business, but finding the cash to do it looks
impossible. Learn about some new funding sources out there that you may
not have thought about previously. Keith Kovarik of Hawkeye, IA,
will share his experiences in using a revolving loan fund. Karla
Organist, Associate Director for Fayette County Economic Development,
will also share some of her experiences on helping small businesses
find funding.
Karla Organist has been with Fayette County Economic Development as
Associate Director for 3 years. Prior to that she owned/operated
a successful coffee shop and café in New Mexico, and before that
worked with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in the Post Closing Loan Review
Department. As part of her responsibilities with Fayette County
Economic Development, she administers the loans for their Local
Revolving Loan Fund, and for the Fayette County Local Housing Trust
Fund. She also sits on the committee for the recently certified
IowaMicroLoan affiliate for Northeast Iowa.
Since 1996, K & K Gardens has been offering Northeast Iowa the
largest selection of new and unusual perennials, annuals, woody
ornamentals, water garden plants, water garden equipment, accessories,
garden gifts, tools, and an incredible selection of hosta. K & K
Gardens has nearly one acre of enchanting perennial gardens displaying
endless ideas for all levels of the gardening enthusiast. Located on
the southern edge of Northeast Iowa's rolling hills in the small
community of Hawkeye, Iowa, this retail nursery has been referred to as
a "must see" destination for every gardener. In 1996, K & K
Gardens started out as a two person operation (Keith and his wife
Kelli). K & K gardens sold $250 worth of plants the first year. In
2009, they employed seven seasonal workers. Keith and his wife have
expanded their operation from selling a few dozen plants to now selling
over fifty thousand.
This weeks webinar will be Thursday, March 11 at 12:00 Noon.
