Strawberry Point Man Arrested in Manchester

Ian Richmond, age 35, of Strawberry Point, Iowa was arrested on Sunday, February 28. Around 7:40 PM Sunday night, Manchester Police observed a pick up truck operating in a reckless manner on East Main Street. Upon officer attempting to stop the truck, the driver left East Main street at the Community Savings bank parking lot going over the curb, nearly striking the street light fixture and continued south across the lot and exiting onto E. Delaware Street in what continued to appear to be an attempt to elude police.

At the intersection of S. Brewer and E. Delaware the officer performed a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) on the truck. The truck then did a turn around and struck the drivers side door of the squad car and proceeded around another corner on E Delaware striking a parked pick up truck. The driver then exited the truck and attempted to flee officers on foot and was taken into custody a short distance away. Delaware County Sheriffs Deputies assisted in taking suspect into custody.

Richmond is charged with OWI, Reckless Driving, Interference with Offcial Acts, Eluding a Police Officer and a Stop Sign Violation

Richmond was being held in Delaware County Jail on $5,000 bond.
