Calves
Killed in Barn Fire
Posted 2 July 2008
The Dubuque County Sheriff's office reports eight calves were killed
yesterday, Tuesday, July 1, in a fire near Dyersville.
Local volunteer firefighters from Dyersville, Farley and New Vienna
were summoned to the Richard Nadermann dairy farm, 29820 Delta Road, at
about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The fire also destroyed two barns and
two silos at the location, with damages estimated at $80,000.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the fire may have been caused
by the spontaneous combustion of hay in one of the buildings.
