The City of Manchester welcomes your nominations for the Nice Neighbor Award. The award is given continuously each month. If you know of someone who deserves to be nominated for doing kind acts and being a good neighbor, send a nomination letter to Mayor Milt Kramer at the city hall.

The Edgewood Library is offering Story Time for kids on Wednesday nights from 7 to 7:30 pm. All three year olds through kindergarten are invited to join the library for fun and learning through books, fingerplays, games and crafts. This year's sessions will focus on animals. The Edgewood Library also offers a Book Club for adults. The book discussion group meets every other month on Monday nights at 7 pm--Jan. 28th, Mar. 24th, May 19th and July 28th.

Friday, May 9th is the final day to register to attend the "Spice Up My Kitchen Dinner" event, sponsored by the Manchester After Five Connection. The dinner will be held Monday, May 12th at 6:45 pm at Betty's Bread Basket in Manchester. Dinner will feature Ardith Herring from Roses in the Snow, who will demonstrate how you can change the look of your kitchen on any budget. Inclusive cost is $8.50. For reservations, call Dianne Oberbroeckling at 927-2450 or Norma Kelchen at 927-5830. Reservations must be in by 12 noon.

Saturday, May 10th, the Delaware County Master Gardeners will hold their annual plant sale from 9 to 10 am at the Delaware County Fairgrounds Quonset building. All perennials, sold for $3 each. Plants sell fast, so come early!

Saturday, May 10th, Widner Drug and Gift Store's "Relay for Life" team will host a bake sale at their store location in Manchester from 8 am to noon. Gluten-free baked goods will be available. Proceeds go to the Relay for Life.

Reserved tickets are still available for West Delaware's "Swing into Spring", which will be held Saturday, May 10th at Hanson Auditorium at 7 pm. Featuring premier show choir WD Forte, prep show choir Crescendo, and WD Jazz Band, along with individual and small group talent. All reserved seating, with adults $7, and those 18 and under $5. Contact the West Delaware High School office for tickets. Remaining reserved seats will be available at the door.

Saturday, May 10th, the 6th Annual Littleport Reunion will be held at the Littleport Park shelter at 12 noon. Everyone is welcome. Sponsored by Hope Lutheran Church of Littleport.

Sunday, May 11th, it's the 2nd Annual St. Mary's Mother's Day Breakfast from 8 am to noon at St. Mary's Parish Center in Manchester. Serving scrambled eggs, egg casserole, cheesy hashbrowns, fresh fruit, carved ham and maple link sausages, cinnamon rolls, assorted flavored breads, coffee, juice and milk. Advance tickets only, with adults $10, children 5-12 $5 and 4 and under free. Tickets available at St. Mary's School during school hours. Proceeds will be split between a new automatic external defibrillator for St. Paul's School of Religion, Catholic Relief Services and the Delaware County Food Pantry.

Sunday, May 11th, a Mother's Day Wildflower Walk will be held at the Osborne Nature Center near Elkader from 2 to 4 pm.

Monday, May 12th, you're invited to attend "A Sweet Song" Luncheon at Betty's Bread Basket in Manchester from 12:30 to 2 pm. Tuesday, May 13th, Parents as Teachers Family Fun Night will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at Regional Medical Center. Interactive stations with music, games and gross motor activities. Healthy snacks will be provided. Free and open to the public. For more info, call 927-7599.

Tuesday, May 13th, the Delaware County Republicans are hosting a forum featuring the four Republican candidates for Delaware County Supervisor. The question and answer forum will start at 7 pm at Cedar Lodge Restaurant in Manchester, with doors opening at 6:30 pm. There will be opportunities both before and after the forum to speak one-on-one with the candidates. Representative Steve Lukan will moderate the event. All Delaware County residents are encouraged to attend.

Wednesday, May 14th, you're encouraged to donate blood at Manchester's 30th Anniversary Community Blood Drive. Stop by the Delaware County Community Center from 11:30 am to 6 pm. Wednesday, May 14th, West Delaware's Senior Awards Ceremony will be held at 7 pm in Hanson Auditorium. This is a semi-formal event. The public is invited to attend.

Thursday, May 15th, everyone is invited to attend an Open House to welcome new Delaware County Extension Director Mike Henderson. The Open House will be held from 3 to 6 pm at the Extension Office in Manchester. Refreshments will be served.

Sunday, May 18th, Camp Courageous of Iowa in Monticello will hold the 21st annual "Cruisin' for Camp Courageous" from 10 am to 4 pm. Presented by the Cedar Valley Street Rods, this is one of Iowa's largest charity car shows and features hundreds of show cars, race cars and trucks. This is a family event with a large silent and live auction, kids games, food, music and huge craft show. New this year will be Matchbox car races. Participants are asked to bring their favorite car and join in the fun! Admission is $5 for adults, with children 12 and under free when accompanied by an adult. All proceeds go to Camp Courageous. Monday, May 26th, a Memorial Day Mass will be held at St. Joseph's cemetary in Greeley at 10:30 am. Legion services will follow. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Legion Hall in Greeley.

Menu includes pancakes, ham, sausage, eggs, fresh fruit, juices, coffee and milk. Advance tickets are $5 for adults, and $3 for children 5-12. Tickets will cost a dollar more at the door. Proceeds go toward future CORE and church mission trips.
